On May 25th 242 runners took to the streets of Melmerby to take part in the Melmerby 10K road race. As mentioned in an earlier blog post we were sponsoring the race and providing all the bottled water for runners and spectators.
The race was a big success with runners from all over North Yorkshire taking part including Joe Barnett, one of our Engineers, who completed the race in 50:38.8.

Jonny Rides The Tour De Newtons
With Joe running the Melmerby 10KM, a week later it was Director, Jonathan Dalton’s turn as he took part in a gruelling 63 mile charity bike ride for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Great North Air Ambulance Service. No Yellow Jersey’s here but Jonny dominated the climbs to be the first one back out of all the riders at the Newton’s Knaresborough head office.
The race was organised by Newtons Solictors, and the ride stretched from Darlington to Knaresborough with stop off points and refreshments at all the Newton’s offices.
The day was the brainchild of employment law and director, Tiggy Clifford, who wanted to raise £5,000 for independent charities, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Great North Air Ambulance.
